About the role
We are looking for an Automation Systems Engineer to provide crucial technical support and subject matter expertise across our CSG automation assets.
This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring the availability, reliability, and cyber-security of systems including DCS hardware/software, SCADA, well-site RTUs, PLC skid controllers, SIS systems, and Operator Training Simulators (OTS).
More about the role:
- Monitoring Asset control system performance and ensure the Process Control System (PCS) and SIS availability, reliability and cyber-security are maintained.
- Root cause investigation of faults and rectification activities to restore system performance to business requirements.
- Ensuring changes to the control system comply with the Origin processes, engineering assurances procedures, Management of Change (MOC) policy and procedure, and the Safe Control of Work (SCoW) practices.
- Developing business cases and completing detailed design to deliver operational and project modifications on control system assets to improve operational efficiency, manage obsolescence and increase production where justified.
- Developing, implementing and maintenance of engineering systems and standards that reflects best practice and support Origin Energy's objectives.
- Developing strong working relationships with operators, I&E technicians, and asset engineering teams.
- Providing technical advice to the Integrated Gas business relating to Process Control Systems (PCS).
- Liaising with Site Operations, Brisbane Central Control Room (BCCR), Origin Corporate Operational Technology (OT) and Cyber-security Teams where required during fault rectification, design changes and new projects.
- Liaising with control system vendors and sub-contractors to improve equipment performance and assist with the management of vendor/contractor service support contracts.
- Process safety, Functional Safety and Alarm performance monitoring and MASD integrity against business requirements

More about you
- 3 years plus of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree of Engineering (Instrument & Control, Electrical, or similar)
- Relevant Control System experience with competency working with DCS, SCADA, RTUs and PLCs
- Understanding of Control Engineering and systems and knowledge of process automation systems
- Able to apply critical thinking techniques to create designs, recommendations, and solutions
- Proactive problem-solving abilities to negotiate and provide effective solutions
- Acts with integrity, commitment to meeting deadlines & quality and able to build positive working relationships
