Deckhand

Poseidon Sea Pilots (PSP), an AMS Group subsidiary company, provide high quality marine pilotage services for Brisbane and Melbourne in addition to an increasing list of national ports. We are growing fast, improving our capability, and ultimately leading the transformation of marine pilotage operations for the next generation.

We are looking for experienced and motivated Deckhands to join our dedicated launch crew in Victoria. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a dynamic and progressive team of specialists and innovators of Australia's most forward-looking pilotage team.

Deckhands must display recent and highly competent boat handling/husbandry skills and the ability to:

• Ensure our Marine Pilots are transferred in a safe, reliable, timely and cost-effective manner.
• Communicate with Victoria VTS, port traffic, PSP operations team, other launch crews and marine pilots.
• Proactively anticipate changes in pilotage movements and amend transfer operations accordingly.
• Ensure pilot launches maintain compliance with all local and international laws and internal PSP policies.
• Be responsible for the implementation, documentation, and verification of the Pilotage Operations Safety Management System (POSMS) as it relates to pilot launches and launch crew to ensure continual compliance and audit processes.
• Deliver operational maintenance/engineering on our vessels as required.
• Lead operational improvement exercises and liaise with management on operational and procedural improvements.
• Motivate and lead launch crew in keeping pilot launches and other company assets in superior quality and condition.

Successful applicants will meet the following requirements:

• Minimum Master Class 5 Master up to 24 meters (Near Coastal).
• Current MED 2 (Marine Engine Driver) or higher certification.

Previous pilot launch operations experience in Port Philip region highly desirable.
- Local knowledge certificates for the proposed areas of operation highly desirable.
- Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP).
- Current Drivers Licence.
- A current AMSA Medical and a valid MSIC (or the ability to obtain).
- Relevant working rights for Australia to be considered for this role.
- Recent and competent vessel handling skills.
- Ability to deliver and interpret the reporting requirements in accordance with Ports Victoria, AMSA, Safe Transport Victoria and NSCV standards.
- Engineer skills and/or training are highly preferable.
- Applicants are required to be Melbourne based.

Our launch crews can expect to be based at any of our pilot stations which are located throughout a number of ports across Victoria, including Port of Melbourne and Queenscliff.
