Maritime Constructions is a marine contractor, uniquely capable of self-performing the full spectrum of specialised engineering disciplines to deliver complex marine infrastructure projects from design and construction through to commissioning.

Maritime Constructions offers many unique opportunities. As a qualified Coxswain, you'll have the opportunity to undertake training to become a Dredge Operator and work on some of the most spectacular coastlines in the world

Essential criteria for skilled operators:

  • MUST have previous experience operating cutter suction dredges
  • MUST have minimum Coxswain qualification
  • Master 5 and MED2 qualifications or higher will be highly regarded
  • Appropriate plant, vehicle and earthmoving equipment licences e.g., front end loader, excavator, HR Truck will be highly regarded
  • Must be flexible and prepared to work up to 12 hour shifts (day or night) including weekend work
  • Strong commitment to WHS compliance
  • Must pass a full pre-employment medical including functional capacity assessment and drug and alcohol screening

Key Responsibilities as a Dredge Deckhand (Once Fully Trained):

  • Assess weather and continually monitor tide conditions
  • Assist with pre-checks of all plant e.g storm anchors, navigation lights, seacock, inverter, bilge pumps, winch locks
  • Monitor and ensure the integrity of the dredges pipe work and perform any pipe work repairs
  • Maintain safe pipeline position by monitoring boating traffic to avoid accidents
  • Move anchors when necessary
  • Monitor and move offshore diffuser regular (report on mooring conditions)
  • Complete accurate water  quality testing and recording each shift
  • Monitor and maintain anchor barge tender equipment and fuel supplies
  • General routine maintenance and housekeeping

Essential Criteria:

  • AMSA Certified Coxswain 1NC certification with no restrictions. (First aid included in this, must be current)
  • Drivers license
  • Construction White Card
  • Access to own transport
  • Pre-Employment Medical - including; functional capacity, fitness evaluation and a drug and alcohol screen.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Barge and Tow experience
  • Civil Construction experience
  • Mechanical experience e.g. MED3 and above
  • High Risk Qualifications e.g. Dogging, rigging
  • Excavator, Loader or Dozer ticket
