Our client is an end-to-end water treatment solutions provider, operating in the mining & metals, petrochemical, food & beverage, and municipal sectors across ANZ and EMEA.

They deliver services including design & construct, design, construct & operate, consulting, and equipment supply for major capital projects in Australia and internationally.

Position Summary

The team has a new opportunity for a Proposals Engineer to join the business. This role will suit someone with a background in process or mechanical engineering who enjoys developing technical and commercial proposals for complex water and wastewater treatment projects.

You'll be responsible for reviewing client RFQs, preparing process designs and supporting documentation, and compiling tenders that combine both technical accuracy and commercial competitiveness.

This position offers exposure to a wide variety of projects across the mining and heavy industry sectors, with the chance to work closely with both the engineering and business development teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse RFQ documents and client specifications.
  • Develop process flowsheets including calculations (membrane projections, ion exchange modelling, softening chemistry, and general reaction calculations).
  • Prepare tender design documentation, including mass balances, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment schedules, and datasheets.
  • Compile clear, concise, and well-structured technical proposals.
  • Prepare cost estimates and source quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Support business development activities by providing technical input into bids and presentations.
  • Liaise with internal engineering, operations, and commercial teams to align proposals with client requirements.

About You

  • Degree in Process, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the water treatment or heavy industry sector (mining, oil & gas, wastewater, or industrial).
  • Exposure to process design, construction, and commissioning of treatment systems.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to prepare professional proposals and reports.
  • Experience with cost estimation and supplier engagement.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work across technical and commercial teams.
