What is our Service Manager role?
The State Forensic Mental Health Services (SFMHS) provides mental health services for individuals with mental illness associated with high-risk behaviours and who are typically involved in the criminal justice system. Our services are delivered across a variety of settings including inpatient beds, community, prisons, and courts. There has been substantial recent State Government investment in forensic mental health services, including the establishment of two new Child and Adolescent teams (one community based and one in Youth Detention) and significant additional services as part of the implementation of the Criminal Law Mental Impairment (CLMI) Act. Funding has been committed for a new adult sub-acute unit and a child and adolescent forensic mental health units, with further announcements expected.

As a member of the SFMHS Leadership Team, the Service Manager in consultation with the State Forensic Co-Directors, is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, evaluating and reporting on designated service areas. In line with North Metropolitan Health Services safety, quality and performance frameworks, is responsible for the business and financial resources of designated clinical and non - clinical areas to ensure the provision of safe, high-quality and efficient consumer care.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
