THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Concrete Surface Preparation:
    Prepare concrete floors or other surfaces for subsequent processes, such as polishing or sealing, by grinding away imperfections, leveling areas, and removing contaminants.

  • Grinding Operations:
    Operate specialized grinding machines (walk-behind, hand-held, etc.) to achieve desired smoothness, flatness, and texture on concrete surfaces.

  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Maintain and clean concrete grinding equipment, ensuring it is in safe and effective working order.

  • Material Handling:
    Handle and manage materials used in concrete grinding, such as grinding stones, polishing pads, and chemical treatments.

  • Safety Compliance:
    Adhere to strict safety protocols and regulations when operating grinding equipment and working with chemicals.

  • Quality Control:
    Ensure the quality of concrete finishes by identifying and addressing any issues or inconsistencies during the grinding process.

  • Other duties:
    May include sweeping, mopping, or scraping floors, and may work with chemical solvents.

  • Record Keeping:
    Accurately document job details, equipment usage, and material consumption.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience:
    Prior experience in concrete grinding or related construction trades is highly desirable.
  • Physical Strength:
    Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy equipment and materials.
  • Attention to Detail:
    Ability to focus on precision and accuracy when working with concrete grinding equipment.
  • Safety Awareness:
    Thorough understanding of safety procedures and protocols related to construction and equipment operation.
  • Teamwork:
    Ability to work effectively with other construction professionals and follow instructions.
  • Basic math and measurement skills:
    to accurately follow instructions and blueprints
