Downer is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead our Brisbane asphalt team based out of Brendale. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for delivering pavement contracting services safely, profitably and while driving operational excellence, team development and client satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Brisbane asphalt team to achieve budgeted profit and performance targets.
  • Oversee project delivery, financial performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement regional business plans aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Foster strong client relationships and promote innovative solutions.
  • Empower and develop staff through coaching, succession planning and performance reviews.
  • Drive compliance with Downer's Integrated Management System and Zero Harm initiatives.
  • Ensure safety, quality and environmental standards are met across all operations.

ABOUT YOU

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business or related discipline.
  • A sound understanding in delivering asphalt, surfacing, paving and/or minor civil works preferred.
  • Proven experience in project operations management at a senior level.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to build stakeholder relationships and identify business opportunities.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Sound knowledge of work health and safety and employee relations legislation.
