About the role
Visual Eyes Optical Centre is seeking a passionate casual or part-time Optical Dispenser / Assistant to join our small team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring the accurate and efficient delivery of optical goods and services to our valued patients.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting patients with frame selection, measurements, and adjustments
- Processing optical prescriptions and ensuring accurate dispensing of lenses
- Maintaining inventory and stock control of optical supplies and equipment
- Providing administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records
- Promoting and educating patients on optical products and services
- Collaborating with the optometrist and other team members to deliver exceptional patient care
- General shop keeping duties to a high standard.
What we're looking for
- Minimum 2 years' experience as an Optical Dispenser / Assistant / Store Manager, preferably at an independent practice.
- Ability and flexibility to travel between store locations.
- Willingness to travel between 3 store locations as operational requirements demand.
- Travel between store locations will be required as needed
- Availability to travel between locations on an as-required basis to support business operations
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to provide a positive patient experience
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities and has the ability to follow out instructions precisely.
- Proficiency in using optical dispensing equipment and Optomate software
- Intermediate level proficiency in Optomate software is required
- Proficiency in frame adjustments and minor repairs
- Exceptional understanding of both Spectacle and Contact Lenses from most major supplies, such as Hoya, Rodenstock, Zeiss, Alcon, Coopervision, Johnson & Johnson and so on.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- A passion for the optical industry and a commitment to providing high-quality care
- Flexibility with working hours especially during other staff member holidays. Must be available for at least every second Saturday am.
- Ability to work alone and with other staff.
- Reliability and someone who doesn't just consider the bare minimum satisfactory. If you go above and beyond it will be noticed and you will be rewarded for that.
- Must possess a strong work ethic and is hard working.
- Australian work rights are required for this position.
