The opportunity

Vacenti is seeking a Part-time Laundry Assistant to join the Hotel Services Team at Portofino - Hamilton, QLD. Reporting to and working closely with the Laundry Team Leader and Facility Manager. In this role you will assist the Laundry Team Leader, Group Housekeeping & Laundry Supervisor & Hotel Services Manager in ensuring the residents personal clothing, facility linen, towels, and other textiles are collected, washed / cleaned, dried, sorted, hanged, folded, and returned to the residents & facilities ready for use.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Collection of personals, linens, towels, and other textiles from facilities.
  • Washing / cleaning / treating, drying, hanging, folding, sorting of personals, linens, towels, and other textiles.
  • Prepare & sort laundry items for pickup, and delivery.
  • Operation of laundry machinery, using safe work practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness of laundry facilities.
  • Waste collection and removal.
  • Actively avoid any damage to, or loss of resident's personal items.
  • Report all incidents, and any damage, deficits, or disturbances.
  • Ensure health and safety practices are followed.
  • Maintain consumables and stock and ensure that use is in line with Vacenti's and manufacturers instruction.
  • Perform reasonable ad-hoc duties as directed.

To be successful in this position you will need:

  • Reasonable level of spoken and written English literacy skills.
  • A personal philosophy of honesty and integrity, and practical approach that is compatible with the Vacenti values.
  • A positive team-based attitude.
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently.
  • The ability to work in a busy environment and has good time management skills.
  • Very high attention to detail
  • A commitment to safe work practises.
  • Willingness to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and learn and cross train.
  • The ability to follow direction from supervisors & team leaders.
  • To be considered for this opportunity you must have the right to live and work in Australia. If you are successful, you will be required to obtain a national police clearance prior to commencement.
