DESCRIPTIONKey job responsibilities
  • Manage Utility, connection enquiries, load applications, contracts and agreements to secure & optimize data center power capacity.
  • Manage contestable works for Utility projects such as switching station and transmission lines.
  • Support internal procurement, design and construction teams through end to end EPC process for dedicated substation power infrastructure delivery.
  • Manage and report overall project delivery status and capital budgets for power infrastructure projects.
  • Support the real estate team on easement and right of way negotiations for both utility and data center power supply requirements.
  • Negotiate network tariff and support internal retail contract agreements to optimize power purchase costs.
  • Undertake power due diligence for new or proposed data center sites to check power availability and feasibility.
  • Identify risks and opportunities for the regional power infrastructure network and utility planning to support data center growth.
  • Monitor power infrastructure reliability and take corrective action by working with Operations and power utilities to improve the same.
  • Develop and execute energy strategies that leverage capital projects (utility grid connections, high voltage substations, energy storage, etc) to reduce long term energy costs.
  • Load forecasting exercise for existing / new data centres.
  • Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects and initiatives related to Power Infrastructure and supply.
  • Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.
About the team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required in Engineering/Business or other technical field.
  • Strong organizational, communication and team building skills capable of building strategic working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing complex projects through their lifecycle.
  • Ability to self-start and self-motivate in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in budgeting and analyzing cost/benefit trade-offs across a strategic portfolio.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in one of project management, planning, engineering, developing or constructing substations or other 33kV or greater energy infrastructure.
  • Basic understanding of power transmission and transformation for industrial applications.
  • Familiar with local grid codes, grid connectivity procedures, grid application procedures and roles and responsibilities, standards of performance of Distribution / Transmission Utilities.
  • Experience working directly with power utilities and other energy regulators.
  • Experience successfully negotiating new tariff rates, power purchase agreements and/or energy infrastructure contracts in regulatory regimes.
    • Substation operations experience.
  • Experience with IT infrastructure, data centers and cloud services.
