OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
The National Gallery is seeking applications from highly motivated candidates to, under limited direction and in line with corporate objectives, apply transition, transformation and business planning skills to ensure operational continuity at the National Gallery whilst significant capital works are delivered alongside business operations. An Executive Level One position is required to work across the organisation to identify, plan and/or deliver a varied range of critical business projects to maintain business operations.
The National Gallery has a significant pipeline of Capital Works that includes delivery of over $200 million in capital asset upgrade projects, the establishment of a planned strategic asset management program for the future, and the delivery of significant or iconic capital works projects.
The Integration Team is responsible for ensuring operational continuity throughout Capital Works. This opportunity is well suited to individuals seeking diversity of projects, with significant opportunities to gain experience working across projects covering art operations, corporate, construction, governance and strategy. Opportunities to work across all facets of the organisation with significant exposure to the National Gallery Executive is a key aspect of the role.
This is a full-time, non-ongoing employment opportunity which may be made ongoing. This role is linked to specific capital works funding which will expire at the end of 2029.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
In accordance with the Executive Level 1 work level standards, working to the Principal Project Manager, Integration and in partnership with the Capital Works team, you will have the following key responsibilities:
- Deliver complex and high-risk business projects from project inception or an agreed project delivery stage through to financial completion, within time cost and scoping targets. These projects will be centred on outcomes that support staff, visitor and business process continuity.
- Oversee and manage organisational planning and develop strong stakeholder relationships.
- Bring a curious mindset to ensure complex organisational challenges are assessed and evaluated in a consistent way that considers whole of gallery outcomes.
- Provide project management expertise to ensure repeatable and consistent processes are followed in the scoping, planning, delivery and management of business projects.
- Ensure risk assessment and program control activities are right sized and in line with organisational risk appetite and regularly reviewed and reassessed throughout the life of a project.
- Compile and write reports, presentations and briefs that can be used for Executive briefings, or technical experts. Review of submissions and tender documents for adequacy, compliance, value for money and fitness for purpose.
ELIGIBILITY:
Citizenship: To be eligible for employment with the Gallery, you must be an Australian citizen.
Police Check: To be eligible for this role you must complete a police check.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - Qualifications, Certifications and Registrations
- A Diploma in Project Management or similar formal project management qualifications or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Change Management qualifications or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Experience working in a public or cultural facility with relevant knowledge of balancing the needs of collection materials and public access during capital works programs.
- Hold or have the ability to obtain a White Card, Asbestos Awareness and Silica Exposure Prevention
