We have a current opportunity for a
C2 Application Interface Engineer
, on a contract basis within the Defence sector. The role is based in
Canberra
. The contract is for an
initial 24 month period, with a 2 x12 month extension option
.

DSS Skill Set: Level 3 - Specialist Engineering - Communications Network Engineering

The Application Interface Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

• Install, configure, and integrate C2 applications in directed environments in support of the Land Combat System. Key systems being: Battle Management Systems (C2, Fires, EW, AD) Tactical Data Links, as well as Variable Message Format, Link 16, JREAP-C, OTH-Gold, MIP / Tactical Recognised Ground Picture (RGP) and Strategic Common Operation Picture (COP) applications, including the Interim Track Management Capability (Sitaware HQ)
• Persistent Chat technologies (XMPP) / Targeting and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance systems (Aviation Mission System, Intel Cloud Programs, and RECON C2 systems) / Geospatial and mapping applications
• Install, configure and integrate enabling interfacing software for the purpose of enhanced transmission and ingestion of data in various formats (e.g. protocol translation, message formatting software)
• Engage, support and collaborate with enterprise ICT agencies to optimise application and network interfaces to assure data paths from deployed to strategic environments.
• Support the Army tactical and headquarter elements in the development and management of the Digital Common Operating Picture, Recognised Land Picture, and associated interfaces.
• Develop training package material to describe the implementation of technologies and applications on Army Mission Command systems.
• Conduct on-the-job training to Army, Navy and RAAF technical tradespersons, and other technical and non-technical staff.
• Provide technical support to Army exercises for role specific technologies and systems
• Review, advise and contribute to the design of application integrated solutions for Land Network systems as part of the Land Combat System and associated Joint and Strategic interfaces.
• Develop application integration design documentation, and maintain configuration control of the C4ISR application documentation, as well as their implementation onto Test and Development and Production Mission System environments.
• Support T&E activities involving C2 applications and supporting software, including PT&E, DT&E, AT&E, and OT&E.
• Manage Army, RAAF and RAN Unit Reference Numbers (URN) and employ associated software to do so.
• Provide other ad hoc services as tasked by LNIC Commonwealth and Senior Technical staff.

Minimum mandatory requirements:

• AGSVA Security clearance.
• Extensive hands-on technical experience in software engineering / development.
• Working knowledge of open-source and proprietary message formats and application protocols employed in mapping, imagery, position & location information, and messaging.
• Working knowledge of networking, and virtualisation.
• Working knowledge of operating systems (e.g. Windows, Linux and/or Android).
• Working knowledge with integrating applications and middleware in closed environments.
• Experience supporting Defence or government projects.
• Experience in preparing technical and security documentation.
• Relevant tertiary and/or vocational education in software development / engineering or similar IT fields.

Desirable Requirements:

• Relevant experience in configuring and/or employing the below applications: ArcGIS Pro / ArcGIS Server / SitaWare (HQ/FL) / TAK / AFATDS / AMDWS / FAAD-C2 / SNC TRAX / (m)JECL
• Proficiency in coding languages (C / C++ / Java / Bash / Scratch)
• Working knowledge and/or experience in Geospatial and DTED rendering
• Industry certifications in software development
