About Us
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) is at the heart of WA's racing and wagering industries. As a government trading enterprise, we regulate and develop the State's racing sector and operate the TAB – a multifaceted wagering business with a presence across more than 300 retail outlets and a growing digital platform.
Our work protects the integrity of racing and wagering, strengthens industry sustainability, and delivers value to the WA community. We are proud to be an organisation driven by our values of Respect, Accountability, Connection, and Excellence.
Job DescriptionAbout the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Engineer to join our Technology Division. This role plays a pivotal part in the design, implementation, and optimisation of RWWA's state-wide communications network, ensuring its integrity, reliability, and security.
Reporting to the Network Engineering Team Lead, you will provide technical leadership and guidance across the organisation, contribute to strategic decision-making, and deliver small to medium-scale projects that enable RWWA's technology strategy. You will also play a key role in strengthening collaboration with our Cybersecurity team to maintain secure, resilient network services.
In this role, you will:
- Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and cloud networking infrastructure.
- Provide third-level support and incident/problem resolution, including on-call participation.
- Monitor, analyse, and optimise network performance, traffic flows, and capacity.
- Ensure network security, including firewalls, 802.1x, access rights, failover, and disaster recovery.
- Manage core services such as DNS, DHCP, IP schema, and configuration management.
- Lead knowledge-sharing, mentoring, and technical guidance across engineering teams.
- Act as a technical liaison with vendors, consultants, and service providers.
- Develop and maintain policies, standards, documentation, and network diagrams.
About You
You are not just a network engineering professional – you are a technical leader and problem-solver who thrives on tackling complex challenges and driving innovation. You have the credibility to influence peers, the foresight to anticipate risks and opportunities, and the resilience to deliver in a dynamic environment.
In this role, you will bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in IT/Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong enterprise networking experience, with emphasis on AWS cloud networking and automation.
- Skills in advanced AWS networking (VPCs, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPNs, security groups, NACLs).
- CCNP certification (or working towards) and ideally AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting (Python, REST APIs), Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Deep knowledge of routing principles (EIGRP, BGP), Cisco enterprise routing and switching.
- Experience in DevOps/NetDevOps environments, including CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across traditional and cloud environments.
Why Join Us?
At RWWA, you won't just maintain a network – you will shape the future of how technology connects and enables our organisation. This is your opportunity to make a tangible impact by strengthening mission-critical infrastructure that supports one of WA's most dynamic industries.
When you join us, you will step into a workplace where your expertise is valued, your input shapes strategy, and your career growth is supported.
We offer:
- Flexibility that works for you – hybrid work options, flexible hours, and the tools to work effectively anywhere.
- Investment in your growth – a personal learning & development budget and access to cutting-edge training.
- A workplace built for people – brand-new offices with wellness spaces, end-of-trip facilities, and collaborative zones.
- Recognition that matters – competitive remuneration, employee discounts, and reward programs that celebrate achievement.
- Purpose and pride – be part of an organisation that delivers value to the WA community and racing industry.
