PALAS Consulting is seeking expressions of interest from highly skilled Solution Architects to join our team supporting critical data platforms for the Department of Defence. This role will contribute to the design, integration, and management of data solutions, ensuring seamless data interoperability and stakeholder alignment.

We're looking for talented professionals with expertise in the following areas:

  • Data and Solution Architecture
  • Data Integration and Data Movement Patterns
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Business Alignment
  • Cloudera and Data Platform Tooling
  • ICT Systems Integration and Data Modelling

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and guide the implementation of managed data platforms and departmental data architectures.
  • Develop and support data integration solutions, ensuring interoperability with data systems and stakeholders.
  • Engage with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements, deliver communications, and drive change outcomes.
  • Perform domain-specific data modelling for structured and unstructured data to support storage, business use, and interoperability.
  • Leverage Cloudera and associated tooling to facilitate efficient data movement and integration across platforms.
  • Provide technical expertise in integrating corporate and operational data within complex ICT systems.
  • Contribute to metadata design, management, and assurance to support data platform maturity.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, data models, and integration specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business-as-usual (BAU) and project-based data initiatives.
  • Mentor and transfer knowledge to team members to support cross-skilling and capability uplift.

Deliverables:

  • Managed and integrated data platform architectures.
  • Data integration designs and solution specifications.
  • Data models for structured and unstructured data.
  • Technical documentation, including solution designs and metadata standards.
  • Stakeholder engagement plans and change management reports.

Requirements:

  • Security Clearance
    : Minimum NV1 or higher.
  • Location
    : On-site in Canberra.
  • Experience
    :
  • Minimum 5 years in data and solution architecture, with a focus on data integration and platform management.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing data integration solutions and understanding data movement patterns.
  • Demonstrated expertise in stakeholder management, including engagement with business and technical teams to deliver data solutions.
  • Proficiency with Cloudera and associated data platform tooling for data movement and integration.
  • Strong knowledge of ICT systems and integrating corporate/operational data in complex environments.
  • Experience in domain-specific data modelling and metadata management.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation, including solution designs and integration specifications.

Desirable Skills
:

  • Familiarity with Defence Groups and Services aligned business outcomes.
  • Experience contributing to enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Certifications in Cloudera, data architecture, or related fields (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
