Chief Executive Officer – MND NSW
Lead with Purpose. Drive Change. Support Lives.
MND NSW is seeking a visionary, values-driven Chief Executive Officer to lead our dedicated team in delivering life-changing support to people living with motor neurone disease (MND), their families, carers, and communities across NSW, the ACT and NT.
Founded in 1981 by a passionate group of volunteers, MND NSW is a trusted state-wide not-for-profit committed to care, advocacy, and hope. With services spanning MND Advisers, Coordination of Support, Equipment Support, and Information & Research, our organisation stands at the frontline of MND care and community connection.
Following the upcoming resignation of the CEO who has served with exceptional dedication and leadership, the MND NSW Board of Directors are now seeking to appoint a visionary, experienced and compassionate Chief Executive Officer to guide the next chapter of the organisation's journey. The new CEO would be expected to commence in the role by late January 2026.
About the Role
Reporting to the Board, the CEO holds ultimate responsibility for the strategic direction, operational performance, and financial sustainability of MND NSW. You will be the face of the organisation—advocating, influencing, and partnering with government, health services, donors, and the MND community to amplify our impact.
You'll provide strong, compassionate leadership to a team of professionals and volunteers, empowering them to deliver services that truly centre the needs and dignity of people living with MND.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Drive the development and execution of the organisation's strategic vision, contributing to national MND policy and influencing sector-wide change.
- Advocacy & Engagement: Represent MND NSW at all levels—statewide, nationally, and, where relevant, internationally—to advocate for improved services and support.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee day-to-day functions and lead a high-performing team to deliver quality, person-centred care.
- Financial Stewardship: Lead sustainable financial management, reporting, budgeting, and fundraising strategies.
- Governance & Compliance: Support the Board in good governance, risk management, and adherence to statutory obligations.
- Fundraising & Partnerships: Strengthen funding streams through innovative campaigns, donor relations, and bequest management.
About You
You are a purpose-led executive with demonstrated success leading complex organisations or divisions—ideally in the disability, health, or community services sector. You possess high emotional intelligence, political acumen, and the ability to influence and collaborate across a wide stakeholder base.
Your Background Includes:
- Proven experience in senior leadership, ideally in a values-based, mission-driven organisation.
- Strong understanding of disability or health care services, including individualised funding models.
- Sound financial management and strategic planning skills.
- Exceptional communication, public speaking, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- A leadership style that motivates, nurtures, and unites staff and volunteers.
- A commitment to advocacy, equity, and client-centred service delivery.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (business, finance, health or human services) or equivalent experience.
What We Offer
- A deeply meaningful leadership opportunity within a respected, community-based organisation.
- Competitive salary and access to full salary packaging, which can include provision of a vehicle for business and personal use.
- A supportive, values-driven culture where your impact truly matters.
