Early Childhood Coordinator (ECC) Pilot Program
We're looking for a professional Early Childhood Coordinator (ECC) with relevant experience who wants to take part in a Pilot Project within the Early Years Support Services. This opportunity will be full-time maximum-term until June 2026, working 38 hours per week based at our Inala office.
ABOUT EARLY CHILDHOOD CONNECTOR PROGRAM - Inala - SA3 Catchment
The role of the Early Childhood Coordinator (ECC) is to improve pathways and connections for parents/carers experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage to access early childhood education, health and development services. The ECC will work from Kummara's existing early childhood services to support parents/carers and their children to navigate pathways into early childhood services, supported playgroups and successfully transition to kindergarten and school.
The ECC will provide practical assistance in engaging with and accessing early childhood programs and allied health services to achieve the following outcomes:
- Increased access to health checks and immunisations;
- Increased participation in playgroups;
- Increased access to and participation in Early Years Services (EYS), including Early
- Years Places (EYPs), family and other targeted support;
- Increased attendance at kindergarten;
- Increased the number of parents/carers accessing supports;
- Early identification and diagnosis of children's early learning and development needs;
- Strengthened networks and referral pathways and processes between services and
- schools; and
- Successful transition from home to early childhood settings, and on to kindergarten and
- school.
Key Duties:
- Identifying and reducing barriers (e.g., language/cultural barriers) for children and their parents/carers in engaging with and accessing early childhood and child and allied health services;
- Connecting parents/carers with other support services, allied health agencies and community engagement opportunities (e.g., support or cultural groups). This may be through active referrals to agencies, providing resources/information to support parents/carers to understand their options and make informed choices, working in collaboration with services to attend specific activities/events;
- Working with government agencies and non-government service providers to improve/develop and implement easily identified pathways and access for parents/carers to the services they need where they need it;
- Working with parents/carers and children to make active referrals to appropriate targeted or specialist services, as they transition to relevant early childhood and/or health services and programs;
- Supporting the transition to and engagement with formal and culturally appropriate early childhood education and care services (such as kindergarten);
- Establishing and delivering supported playgroups to children and their parents/carers who may be experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage, as appropriate; and
- Working with local schools and Family Support Coordinators (FSC) to support positive transitions across early years learning programs and into school.
Qualifications
To be successful you will possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in the fields related to this area of work e.g. Early Education and Family Support, Child Protection, Human Services, Social Work.
- Experience in evidence based practice and data collection, research and evaluation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand issues, draw conclusions and present clear and focused positions to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated intermediate ability to use computer IT systems including MS and Excel
- Queensland Drivers Licence
- Obtain a positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required
