The Role

The newly created Senior ESG Manager role will lead the evolution and operationalisation of ESG strategy across ESR's Australian and New Zealand business, including Developments, Asset Management, Funds Management and Capital Transactions. The role will work with the Head of ESG to accelerate ESR's ESG program, building on strong foundations.

The role is an opportunity for considerable sustainability impact through shaping ESG in an AU$12.6 billion industrial development pipeline and one of Australia's biggest stabilised industrial portfolios (AU$29.2 billion), as well influencing the global ESG program of ESR Group (US$142 billion AUM). ESR's ESG program is one of the fastest developing of Australia's major property groups and the Senior ESG Manager will see rapid progress at scale.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operationalise ESG strategy across business lines, including climate risk and net zero.
  • Develop and contribute to ESG strategies.
  • Lead strategic ESG projects and provide leadership for business lines.
  • Oversee data management and reporting.
  • Manage preparation for ASRS mandatory disclosure.
  • Facilitate ESG committees and working groups.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring in the ESG team.
  • Develop ESG capability through training and knowledge sharing.

About You

You are a sustainability leader with a demonstrated track record of managing large programs of work across development and operations phases for a large organisation, ideally in a large property development business. You thrive working in a fast-paced environment and are strategically minded with a positive can-do approach to delivering on multiple projects and priorities.

Not one to hide behind a desk, you are proactive in building relationships across the entire organisation and are known for being collaborative and proactive. Driven by the passion for sustainability and providing solutions to the decarbonisation of the built environment, you thrive on bringing people on the journey in an inclusive and tactful manner.

Required Skills and Proficiencies

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • 10+ years' experience in ESG/sustainability leadership roles, preferably within the property sector, or otherwise related sectors.
  • Proven track record in ESG strategy execution, program management, stakeholder engagement and team leadership.
  • Excellent program and project management skills.
  • Deep understanding of ESG frameworks, standards and regulatory trends.
