About the Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Mechanical Technical Apprentice to join our team at Mars Food. This is an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career in mechanical maintenance and engineering. You will gain hands-on experience working with a wide range of equipment and systems while developing your skills in pneumatics, hydraulics, machining, welding and preventive and corrective maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Mechanical Technical Apprentice, you will:

  • Learn and apply mechanical principles across a variety of plant equipment and machinery.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Support the team in carrying out corrective maintenance and repairs when issues occur.
  • Gain hands-on experience in pneumatics and hydraulics systems
  • Develop skills in machining techniques using lathes, mills, and other workshop equipment.
  • Work alongside experienced tradespeople to understand fault-finding and troubleshooting processes.
  • Follow safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
  • Complete Cert III in Mechanical Engineering Trade while actively participating in on-the-job learning.

  • Hands-on and curious eager to develop skills in pneumatics, hydraulics, and machining.
  • Team-oriented able to work with and learn from experienced tradespeople
  • Reliable, motivated, and committed to completing their apprenticeship training.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Completed or currently completing Year 12 schooling
  • Interest in mechanics, maintenance, or engineering
  • Willingness to undertake a formal mechanical trade apprenticeship
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
