Project Engineer (Structural Steel)

Role: Full time and Permanent

Hours: MON - FRI 38 hr working week

Location: Fabrication facilities/Workshop located close to Lonsdale

Work: Predominantly structural steel - shafts, beams, columns - fabricated onsite

Working for a well-established mining services and civil infrastructure services contractor, this Project Engineer role will involve working approximately 40% on the workshop floor and 60% of your time in the office at the same site location. You will provide engineering support across re-design, production, fabrication, quality, compliance and testing of typically structural steel projects (shafts, beams, columns).

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee project planning, allocation of resources, scheduling, and execution within the workshop
• Interpret and review engineering drawings and specifications
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met
• Provide technical support to fabrication teams and monitor quality control
• Manage documentation, budgets, and progress reporting
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies

Skills / Experience required:

• Degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Experience in structural steel fabrication is essential, ideally for mining or heavy industry
• Strong understanding of workshop operations and steel manufacturing/fabrication processes
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Inventor software
