CNC Programmer, Machinist/First-class Metal Machinist

We're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CNC Programmer, Machinist/ First-class Metal Machinist to join our workshop team. In this hands-on role, you'll work closely with our Senior Machinist to manufacture precision components for our advanced engine systems. You'll be part of a fast-paced, high-performance environment where craftsmanship and continuous improvement go hand in hand.

What you'll be doing

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to coordinate workflow and meet production schedules
  • Interpret technical drawings and job orders to determine machining requirements
  • Set up and operate machining equipment—including HAAS CNC machines (3,4, and 5 Axis (UMC750) and live tooling lathe) and manual machine tools —according to Bespoke Engineering practices
  • Maintaining high standards and tight tolerances
  • Use precision measuring tools (e.g. micrometres, vernier callipers) to verify accuracy and quality
  • Inspection using trade practices and engineering knowledge
  • Operate computer-assisted design and engineering software to support machining tasks (we use Onshape, Solidcam and Fushion360).
  • Support metalworking projects from planning through to assembly, testing, and final inspection
  • Maintain clean, safe, and functional workspaces; report any equipment issues or safety concerns promptly

What we're looking for

  • Possession of relevant trade qualifications, whether newly attained or backed by extensive industry experience in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) fitting and machining or equivalent Certificate III qualifications.
  • Knowledge of engines and automotive practices (advantageous but not essential)
  • A keen eye for detail and commitment to precision machining
  • Willingness to learn and adapt within a fast-paced, collaborative workshop environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and production schedules
  • Knowledge in metalworking, brazing, welding, heat-treating, fabrication, and cutting equipment (advantageous but not essential)
  • Australian work rights (citizenship, permanent residency or valid work visa)
  • A proactive attitude toward safety, cleanliness, and continuous improvement
