The Role
This role is responsible for the planning, management, coordination, implementation and monitoring of a multi-year climate change work program, in support and alignment with the organisations sustainability strategy, and their climate transition plan. This influential position will drive and shape all aspects of climate change governance, and partners with key internal and external stakeholders to further the organisations key climate goals, including organisation-wide decarbonisation efforts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitate and maintain the Group's climate related transition and physical risk assessments and register, ensuring adherence to the group enterprise risk framework.
- Partner and collaborate with the group and site finance/commercial teams to financially quantify climate change risks and opportunities, and to support the climate/emissions assessments.
- Lead the development, management and implementation of the groups approach to scope 3, partnering with procurement and local teams for engagement with suppliers.
- Monitor GHG emissions reduction, energy management and climate metrics performance across the organisation, tracking against the company's delivery of objectives and targets.
- Prepare, draft, contribute, collaborate and/or verify all internal (Management and Board) and external (investor, industry, voluntary and regulatory mandatory) reporting and queries related to climate change and decarbonisation matters. (This includes the ISSB/IFRS, ASRS, and EU CSRD).
About you
You will have a minimum of 12 years direct experience in any combination of areas related to climate change and energy policy/standards. You will have current sector experience within Heavy Industry, Mining, Oil & Gas, Cement, or Energy, where you are known for your strong track record in decarbonisation, emissions, energy programs, and leading climate risk assessments. With an extensive knowledge of global climate reporting frameworks, you bring strong analytical skills, and strategic thinking.
Required experience includes:
- Knowledge and understanding of climate mandatory reporting and familiarity with international frameworks.
- Expert level emissions accounting, carbon accounting and emissions modelling (GHG Protocol).
- Demonstrable ability to influence and proactively engage with varying levels of stakeholders.
- Commercial /financial analysis capability and experience (NPV, Total Cost of Ownership, business case development)
