Dynamo Recruitment, in partnership with a major Government affiliated organisation, are currently recruiting a Cyber-Security engineer to help strengthen cyber resilience through the implementation and optimisation of enterprise Security controls across Entra, Defender and Azure environments.

This role will work across the operations, infrastructure and applications teams and help to embed secure-by-design principles, support compliance and contribute to the maturity of security operations.

  • Sydney location - Hybrid model - CBD office
  • Senior level position with competitive salary
  • 12 month fixed term engagement (potential extensions)

Responsibilities

  • Lead identity and access management (IDAM) initiatives, ensuring secure, compliant access within Microsoft Entra and Azure Cloud
  • Design and implement robust policies for role-based access, zero trust, and privileged identity management
  • Automate secure user lifecycle management and integrate with SaaS/PaaS platforms
  • Optimise Microsoft Defender suite coverage (endpoint, identity, cloud, Office 365) and champion proactive threat detection and response
  • Collaborate with engineering and DevSecOps teams to embed security into CI/CD pipelines and cloud operations
  • Triage cyber incidents, conduct forensic analysis, and contribute to incident response playbooks
  • Continuously enhance security operations with automation, dashboards, and analytics
  • Align security controls with government frameworks (Essential Eight, ISM) and support audits and compliance initiatives
  • Mentor colleagues on security best practices and contribute to ongoing awareness programs

Experience Required

  • Advanced hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Defender suite, and Azure security controls
  • Proven track record in designing and governing IDAM policies across hybrid and cloud environments
  • Strong expertise in threat detection, incident response, and security automation (PowerShell/KQL)
  • Familiarity with Azure governance tools (Security Center, Sentinel, Policy) and cyber frameworks (ISO 27001, Essential Eight, ISM, NIST)
  • Bachelor's in Information Technology, Cyber Security, or relevant field, with 3–5 years in cyber/cloud security engineering
  • Microsoft security certifications highly regarded (Security Operations Analyst, Azure Security Engineer, Identity and Access Administrator)
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and documentation skills
