Role Purpose
The General Manager, Training & Sector Capability plays an important role in building organisational and sector capability to better respond to those experiencing family violence and/or financial hardship. Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Good Shepherd Institute, this role leads the strengthening of organisational and sector capability through the design and delivery of training and development initiatives, as well as the strategic involvement of volunteers and placement students. The role oversees the delivery of the child and youth services education programs and supports the centring of lived and living experience in all GSANZ's work.
The Institute is focused on driving bold and audacious systemic change, based on the insights of lived experience and practitioner wisdom, through policy, advocacy, research, innovation, training and education. This role is key to building the partnerships and capability that will help drive this change.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design, development and delivery, internally and externally, of training programs and initiatives that build awareness, understanding and capability to recognise and respond to family violence and financial hardship in a trauma-informed way
- Support work, internally and externally, to elevate and respond to the voices of lived experience of family violence and financial hardship, and strengthen capability to work with and support people with this experience
- Lead and manage the strategic recruitment and involvement of volunteers and placement students to expand capability to support GSANZ's work, offer meaningful experiences to volunteers and students, and strengthen engagement with corporate partners, learning institutions and the community
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the child and youth services education programs, informed by the voices of young people
- Identify opportunities, and create and strengthen partnerships with corporates, government, philanthropic and community organisations, to expand and deepen GSANZ's work and influence systemic change
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, human services, psychology or business or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in executive-level roles responsible for designing and delivering training programs and initiatives to build workforce capability
- Experience working with volunteers, interns or students
- Experience working with people with lived or living experience of family violence or financial hardship
- Sound understanding of the priorities, challenges and trends in the family violence sector
- Proven leadership experience driving strategic and operational change
