Overview:

Inuka is working with a leading investment advisory firm to hire an Investment Director (DFI Advisory) based in Canberra. The role will drive origination, client engagement, and structuring of government- and donor-funded mandates—particularly with DFAT and development finance stakeholders—while shaping high-impact advisory and blended-finance initiatives across the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development and mandate origination across priority sectors, from concept design through contracting.
  • Serve as senior relationship manager for DFAT, donors, and key partners, providing strategic input into program design and deal structuring.
  • Maintain active market coverage across investors, DFIs, corporates, and ecosystem players to identify new advisory and transaction opportunities.
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of advisory and blended-finance mandates, working cross-functionally to convert opportunities into successful engagements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in business, finance, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the development sector with established relationships across DFAT, managing contractors, and Australian government counterparts.
  • Proven ability to manage complex advisory projects and oversee cross-functional teams.
  • Experience sourcing, structuring, and closing transactions in emerging markets is an advantage.
  • Strong background in strategic advisory for public and private sector stakeholders, including roadmap development and stakeholder engagement.
