Akila Test Position

Brief Description
To evaluate the performance and stability of the wireless connectivity and firmware of the SmartToast 3000 toaster under various usage scenarios.

Scope
This test covers the toaster's Bluetooth pairing functionality, mobile app synchronization, firmware auto-update behavior, and error recovery during toasting operations.

Test Type:
Functional and Stress Test
Test Environment

• Toaster firmware version: v2.7.4-beta
• Android App version: 5.3.1
• Wi-Fi: 2.4GHz, WPA2 secured
• Room temperature: 23°C
• Test Lab: KitchenTech R&D Facility, Room 3B

Prerequisites

• Toaster fully charged and reset to factory settings
• Android smartphone with SmartToast app installed
• Stable Wi-Fi connection
• One loaf of multigrain bread (sliced)

Test Procedure

• Power on the toaster and initiate Bluetooth pairing mode.
• Connect the toaster to the mobile app.
• Start a firmware update through the app.
• During update, unplug toaster briefly and reconnect.
• After restart, initiate a standard toasting cycle (level 4).
• While toasting, interrupt Wi-Fi signal and monitor app response.
• Complete three back-to-back toasting cycles with different bread types.
• Log all system alerts and LED status changes.

Expected Results

• The toaster should reconnect to the app after reboot.
• Firmware update should resume or recover gracefully.
• Toasting should complete without system crash or overheating.
• The app should reflect accurate toasting status and device temperature.

Pass/Fail Criteria

• Pass: All functions complete as expected, app maintains sync, and no errors are logged during firmware update or toasting cycles.
• Fail: Device becomes unresponsive, crashes, or fails to reconnect within 60 seconds post-disruption.

Requirements

• Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Culinary Engineering, Toaster Sciences, or a related field.

• 2+ years of experience analyzing the thermal efficiency of kitchen appliances.

• Prior experience working with smart devices (bonus if toaster-related).

• Technical Skills:

• Proficient in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) diagnostics.

• Familiarity with ToastOS (version 3.0 or higher).
• Able to interpret binary bread crispiness logs (.bcl files).

• Knowledge of heat mapping tools like ToastGraph or Crumblytics.

• Soft Skills:

• Strong attention to crust detail.

• Excellent verbal and crumbunication skills.
• Ability to stay calm during burnt-toast emergencies.

• Collaborative mindset; able to work with jam engineers, butter specialists, and UI/UX toast designers.

• Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift up to 15 slices of bread at once.

• Must not be allergic to gluten (office often smells like toast).

• Willingness to travel to global toaster summits (Germany, Japan, Nebraska).

• Certifications (Preferred but not required):

• Certified Crumb Safety Inspector (CCSI)

• ISO 9001:Toaster Compliance

• ToastMaster Elite License

• Other:

• Must love breakfast.

• Must not microwave toast in the break room — seriously, we had an incident.
