About the Role

As a Teacher Assistant, you will work five days a week under the direction of the Team Leader Learning Support (Primary) to support students with diverse learning needs. You will contribute to creating a caring, inclusive, and supportive environment, ensuring students are able to engage meaningfully in their learning and school experience.

This role plays a vital part in achieving positive outcomes through in-class support, implementation of individual and small group programs, classroom organisation, and behavioural guidance.

Responsibilities

Depending on your placement within Primary, your role may include:

• Supporting teaching and learning activities in the classroom
• Assisting students with special needs and/or disabilities with learning and personal care
• Observing and monitoring student performance and behaviours
• Supporting classroom organisation including preparing materials and collecting homework
• Participating in excursions, playground duties, and sporting or school events
• Collaborating with teaching and support staff to implement individual learning plans
• Attending support meetings and relevant professional development

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Certificate III or IV in Education Support, Learning Support, or equivalent (VET qualification)
• Previous experience in a Primary Learning Support/Teacher Assistant role
• A genuine passion for supporting young people's learning and wellbeing
• Strong emotional resilience and conflict management skills
• Ability to work proactively and independently within a team setting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Sound organisational and time-management abilities

Mandatory Requirements

• Current Working with Children Check (NSW)
• First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
• Participation in Child Protection and WHS training aligned to School policy
