An exciting opportunity exists within the West Gippsland Healthcare Group to appoint a Nurse Unit Manager at our Cooinda Lodge residential aged care facility. Cooinda Lodge operates 39 beds under a broad-based, integrated model of health care service provision, incorporating aged care, our Transitional Care Program (TCP) and our Geriatric Evaluation Management (GEM) program in one facility. As the Nurse Unit Manager of Coodina Lodge you will lead a team of dedicated nursing professionals, ensuring high standards of clinical practice, patient safety and quality led resident centered care. Your leadership will be instrumental in developing protocols, managing resources, and fostering a culture of excellence.
Our preferred candidate will have:
· Tertiary qualifications and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse Division 1
· Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
· Broad generalist nursing experience in acute care and aged care settings.
· Knowledge of the Strengthened Aged Care Standards and ability to provide evidence based and clinically effective aged and acute care.
· Extensive knowledge of quality improvement, safety and risk management processes and systems and ability to facilitate and coordinate quality improvement.
· Proficiency in utilising data-based systems for information management.
· Actively seeks to develop others through a commitment to ongoing education
· Demonstrates drive, commitment, and resilience, within a framework that highly values personal and staff wellbeing
· A thorough understanding and respect for confidentiality requirements.
· Responsible and mature work attitude.
The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:
· Previous experience in Leadership and Management.
· Knowledge of privacy legislation and document control.
· Previous Experience within a hospital or health care environment.
· Post Graduate qualifications in aged care and/or management or working towards same.
· Understanding and knowledge of nursing and current clinical issues.
· Knowledge and attention to clinical assessments and care planning.
· Ability to prioritise tasks to ensure a safe and efficient patient experience.
IMPORTANT:Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
