Overview
A fantastic opportunity not to be missed, this role calls for a self-starter with high energy who enjoys the rewards and challenges that come with working within a large regional hospital. With excellent educational opportunities combined with the chance to use a broad range of skills, you will join a vibrant and supportive team at Mount Gambier Hospital as an Associate Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager. In this integral role, you will provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and individual case management to patients in a defined clinical area. Overseeing the provision of nursing/midwifery care within a team/unit, you will participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience. In addition, you will assist in the implementation of practice change as well as take on management responsibilities.
Registered as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you will hold a current practising certificate with notable clinical experience. It is essential that you have demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice. With the ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the healthcare setting, you will bring to the table extensive experience in the supervision of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses. Effective skills in communication, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution is required, and you will have a successful background working within a multidisciplinary team reflecting experience in leading change management. Previous experience in maintaining relationships with non-government organisations or other government organisations will also hold you in good stead for this role.
