Bridge Staff Solutions works with multiple bars, pubs, and restaurants across Melbourne. We are recruiting front of house and bar staff for current roles with our partner venues, with new opportunities added on a regular basis. Suitable candidates are matched to partner venues based on experience, availability, and preferred locations.

Bridge Staff Solutions manages the initial recruitment and matching process, and each partner venue conducts its own interviews and makes the final hiring decisions.

These roles often suit people who prefer flexible hospitality hours, for example to fit around study or other commitments. Shifts commonly include late afternoon, evening, and weekend work, and some partner venues also offer morning and afternoon shifts. The roles also provide opportunities to work across different venues while building practical hospitality experience in busy, supportive teams. Bridge Staff Solutions welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.

The Opportunity:

You will join the service team at one of our partner venues, providing a professional and welcoming experience to guests in roles such as:

• Section wait staff, general wait staff, and food runners.
• Bar staff and bartenders.
• Hosts and all-rounders supporting both floor and bar operations.

These positions are suitable for candidates who have worked as waiters, waitresses, or servers, as well as those with broader customer service experience.

Shifts vary by partner venue and may include breakfast, lunch, and dinner services across weekdays and weekends, with extra hours often available during busy periods. Depending on the partner venue and your availability, shifts may be short-term, ongoing, or longer-term.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities may include the following:

• Greeting and seating guests, managing bookings, and answering basic enquiries.
• Taking food and beverage orders accurately, and communicating clearly with kitchen and bar teams.
• Running food and drinks, checking on tables during service, and assisting with minor issue resolution.
• Operating point-of-sale systems, handling payments, and closing off bills accurately.
• Maintaining clean, safe, and presentable service areas, including basic set-up and pack-down.
• For bar-focused roles, preparing and serving drinks, including simple cocktails, and upholding Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements at all times.

What We Are Looking For:

• Experience in front of house, bar, or café roles is preferred, although strong customer service experience in other industries will be considered.
• Confident and clear communicator who is comfortable engaging with guests in a busy environment.
• Reliable and punctual, with availability across evenings, weekends, and peak trading periods.
• Able to travel reliably to shifts at partner venues in the Melbourne Central Business District, Southeastern suburbs, and other parts of Melbourne as required.
• Responsible Service of Alcohol accreditation for roles that involve serving alcohol in Victoria, or a willingness to obtain it before commencing.
• Professional presentation, a respectful approach to colleagues and guests, and a genuine interest in working in hospitality.
• Full-working rights in Australia, with unrestricted hours, are required for these roles.

The following will be regarded as an advantage, but are not essential:

• Certificate III In Hospitality, or similar hospitality qualifications that prepare you for roles such as food and beverage attendant, bar attendant, or restaurant host.
• Short hospitality courses, such as bar and barista training that combine practical bar skills, cocktail preparation, and espresso coffee making.
• Formal food handling or food safety training, such as accredited food handler or Food Safety Supervisor courses.
• Responsible Service of Gambling training for roles in partner venues that have a gaming area.
• First aid training, such as nationally recognised Provide First Aid courses.

Pay And Conditions:

• Pay is set directly by each partner venue, and will generally align with relevant Australian hospitality awards, such as the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020, or higher, depending on the partner venue and your experience.
• Indicative casual hourly rates for adult front of house and bar staff are typically in the range of $25 to $35 per hour, depending on the partner venue, role, and your experience, with some partner venues offering higher rates for additional responsibility or supervisory duties.
• Exact pay rates are discussed and confirmed directly with the partner venue during the interview process.
• A mix of casual, part-time, and full-time arrangements is available, depending on the partner venue and the role.
• Some partner venues also offer additional benefits, such as staff meals or staff discounts, which are discussed with you when you are matched to a specific role.
