Position Overview

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations of Hampton Dental Centre, ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality patient care in accordance with practice policies, infection control standards, and regulatory guidelines. This role serves as a key liaison between the clinical and administrative teams, supporting operational efficiency, staff coordination, and exceptional patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Operations & Coordination

  • Manage daily clinical workflows to ensure smooth and efficient operations across all treatment rooms.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling with the reception team to optimise practitioner time and reduce waiting periods.
  • Oversee stock control, ordering, and maintenance of dental equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure all clinical areas meet compliance standards for infection prevention, sterilisation, and safety protocols.

Team Leadership & Support

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to dental assistants and clinical staff.
  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of new clinical team members.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote accountability within the clinical team.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Monitor and maintain compliance with ADA, APHRA, and OH&S requirements.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, audit sterilisation records, and ensure adherence to privacy and confidentiality policies.
  • Lead by example in maintaining the highest standard of professionalism, hygiene, and patient safety.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Act as the central point of contact between clinical and administrative teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Foster effective communication between dentists, hygienists, and support staff.
  • Liaise with external suppliers, laboratories, and service providers as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (or equivalent qualification) required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a senior dental assistant or clinical coordination role.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control procedures, dental materials, and clinical best practices.
  • Proven leadership and organisational skills in a busy dental or healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency with dental software (e.g., Dental4Windows, Exact, or similar) preferred.
