About the role

We have an opportunity for a System Administrator to be part of our Microsoft Infrastructure Platform, Technology and Communications Services Command. The The Systems Administrator supports service delivery to the organisation in the management of IT computer systems.

This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of the Microsoft infrastructure Platform team within NSW Police, contributing to the support and development of a secure Windows 11 desktop environment. As a member of a skilled team of SOE and system engineers, you'll help deliver critical IT services that directly support law enforcement operations across the state Aspects of this role include:

  • Software packaging, repackaging then deployment via SCCM/Intune
  • Deploy software updates to desktops using SCCM/Intune
  • Analyse and rectify packaging/installation issues
  • Analyse, log, track, and resolve issues pertaining to Windows SOEs
  • Solid experience within SOE and Packaging deployment on Windows10/Windows 11 platforms using SCCM/Intune
  • Knowledge of Intune Capability
  • Excellent Windows 10/Windows 11 and O365 Support Skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Target Question 1:

You've been tasked with deploying a new version of a critical business application to all Windows 11 desktops across NSW Police. The update includes new dependencies, registry changes, and requires elevated privileges during installation. Some users are in remote locations with limited connectivity, and others are actively using the current version. Describe how you would approach packaging and deploying this application using SCCM. What steps would you take to ensure minimal disruption, successful installation, and rollback capability if needed? How would you decide when and how to apply each part of your solution?

Target Question 2:

You're responsible for managing application deployments in an enterprise environment using SCCM. One day, a critical application or OS deployment fails across multiple endpoints, causing disruption for end users. Walk us through a specific instance where you encountered a similar issue. What was the problem, how did you identify the root cause, and what steps did you take to resolve it? Be sure to include any troubleshooting tools or logs you used, collaboration with other teams (if any), and how you validated the fix.
