About the role
The Mechanical Process Technician will contribute to the reliability and safe operation of NPM's fixed plant and equipment by carrying out the mechanical maintenance of the UG, Surface and OPD Departments. You will ensure the execution of the daily mechanical work within the Northparkes Business Unit, to achieve the desired level of productivity, profitability, unit cost and improvements whilst ensuring adherence to Northparkes Mines principles, guidelines and values.
Your responsibilities will include:
Completion of daily mechanical maintenance activities to achieve the maintenance plan as directed by the Mechanical Team Leader
Performing mechanical repairs of equipment during planned shutdowns
Planning day to day workload to ensure that schedule compliance for the mechanical work group is achieved
Conducting routine preventative maintenance inspections of materials handling equipment including, Screening, crushing plants, conveyors, chutes, pumps as well as other service equipment.
Coordinating appropriate time slots and resource requirements for carrying out maintenance tasks and equipment modifications to be undertaken.
Demonstrating behaviours aligned with the Evolution Mining values.
About you
The ideal candidate should have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a highly autonomous work environment. You should possess general knowledge of the mining industry and demonstrated mechanical aptitude, along with previous experience in maintaining or exposure to fixed plant equipment such as, screens, crushers, conveyors, and pumps. It is essential that you have excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, well-developed written and communication skills, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. The flexibility and willingness to adapt to improved procedures and practices is also important. Trade qualifications in fabrication, fitting, machining, welding, or boilermaking are required, while SAP experience is advantageous but not necessary.
