Maritime Constructions is a marine contractor, uniquely capable of self-performing the full spectrum of specialised engineering disciplines to deliver complex marine infrastructure projects from design and construction through to commissioning.  Projects include jetties, wharves, bulk loading facilities, dredging, reclamation, navigation aids, marinas, underwater pipelines.

We are seeking operators to join our team and operate a Ferry-in-Chains service. Starting in October, this role requires a minimum of a Coxswain Grade 3 Near Coastal qualification. If you don't yet hold the Ferry-in-Chains endorsement, we are willing to provide the necessary training.

The Role

  • Operate and oversee vehicular ferry-in-chains (cable ferry) services, ensuring safe and efficient transport across the waterway.
  • Maintain high operational standards, handle the vessel with precision, and deliver excellent service to our community.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum: Coxswain Grade 3 Near Coastal (NC) with eligibility to add the Ferry-in-Chains endorsement- Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
  • Maritime Constructions is willing to train candidates to gain the Ferry-in-Chains endorsement, only if they already hold a Coxswain Grade 3 NC minimum.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

To be eligible for the Ferry-in-Chains endorsement, candidates must meet all AMSA requirements, including:

  • Medically fit for duty
  • Hold a current First Aid certificate
  • You will be required to complete 20 days of qualifying sea service on a ferry-in-chains vessel as training.

This role is based at Cooper Creek in remote South Australia and operates on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster. Please note the following:

  • Work hours: 12-hour shifts
  • Accommodation: Provided on site
  • Meals: You will need to cook your own meals
  • Living conditions: Basic facilities, best suited to those comfortable with remote work environments
