As the Producer, Learning Programs you will be part of a dynamic and passionate team to ensure our range of programs are meaningful, engaging and well-coordinated.
What the opportunity is:
- Employment with Museums of History NSW.
- Education Officer. Remuneration package includes salary ($73,879 - $109,127 full-time equivalent), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
- 1x ongoing part-time (28 hours per week) and;
- 1x temporary part-time (21 hours per week) up to 12-months.
- The role will work across Sydney.
What we do
Museums of History NSW brings together a portfolio of iconic museums, rich collections and heritage sites, the nation's oldest archive collection, vital recordkeeping services and expert staff.
We bring history to life by sharing the stories of our places and collections. Through the State Archives Collection, we manage NSW's official documentary heritage, supporting government transparency and the public's right to access information.
These two roles do not just sit side by side – they inform and enrich each other. By preserving and making accessible our places, collections and archives, we create opportunities for people to explore the past and better understand their own place in the world. By supporting lifelong learning and inviting people to come together, we promote civic literacy, empathy, wellbeing and belonging.

Museums of History NSW is a state cultural institution, established under the Museums of History NSW Act 2022. It is an agency of the NSW Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS).
What you'll do with us:
The Producer, Learning programs has a unique opportunity to work across multiple historic sites and with an expansive collection to develop meaningful and engaging learning experiences for a range of audiences. We are looking for an experienced educator, with a strong knowledge of curriculum and proven ability working with diverse audiences.
The focus of this role is twofold:
1.In the lead up to the 2027 NSW curriculum reform, will be to redevelop our programs to ensure they remain relevant for teachers and students.
2.To support the development of initiatives to engage students across NSW, with a particular focus on regional schools.

What you need to do to apply

What you need to tell us - Targeted questions:
- A challenge of this role is managing multiple priorities including program design and development for diverse learning audiences, staff training and resource management across geographically dispersed sites. Provide an example of how you have managed multiple priorities in a similarly complex role, meeting strategic and operational demands to deliver successful outcomes for the team and organisation.
- This role will develop and deliver curriculum-linked learning programs in museum contexts for school audiences. Please describe your experience in developing and delivering learning programs in a cultural organisation or historical setting. Outline the skills, planning and processes you used, including evaluation, to meet programming aims and deliver high quality, learning experiences for students of all abilities.
Essential requirements of the role:
- Current NSW Working with Children Check.
- Qualifications in primary or secondary teaching or equivalent experience and significant recent knowledge of, and experience in, the development and delivery of programs for curriculum-focused learning audiences.
- Current NSW Driver's licence.
- Willingness to work across MHNSW sites and ability to travel to multiple locations.
