Job Description
Are you an experienced contracts professional ready to make a real impact in the Circular Economy space? Liverpool City Council is looking for a
Waste Contracts Specialist
to lead the management of our high-value and high-risk contracts, ensuring compliance, maximising value, and driving better outcomes for our community.

This role involves:

  • Develop, maintain and apply Council's Contract Management system to align with best practice, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Manage all major waste contracts from acceptance through to renewal or close out, including performance monitoring, risk mitigation and dispute resolution.
  • Provide expert advice to project managers, procurement teams, and senior leadership on commercial terms, governance structures, and supplier performance strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers to drive performance improvements and deliver organisational benefits.
  • Develop and deliver contract management training programs for Council staff

About You
What we're looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law, contract management or related field, or significant senior-level experience.
  • Strong background in contract administration, procurement and dispute resolution.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to balance compliance, probity and risk with innovative solutions
