Librarian Teacher

St Joseph's is a Catholic College, founded in 1987, and situated in Katherine, approximately 3 hours south of Darwin. The College is a co-educational day school providing quality Catholic education from Transition to Year 12. We also offer education in our Early Learning Centre to children 3-5 years old. The College is set on 16 hectares with modern buildings and landscaped gardens.

We are seeking a Teacher Librarian to lead the development, provision, and effective management of learning resources, literature programs, and information technologies across the College. This is a key teaching role, designed to inspire and support student learning, foster a love of reading, and collaborate closely with staff across all year levels.

The Teacher Librarian will oversee daily library operations, lead school-wide literacy initiatives, and create a vibrant, inclusive library environment that supports both the academic and personal growth of students from preschool to Year 12.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain library operations including cataloguing, circulation, returns, shelving, and stocktaking
• Deliver engaging literature programs aligned with curriculum and student interests
• Promote reading and research across the College community
• Support students and staff with printing, photocopying, and online research
• Collaborate with teachers to plan, teach, and evaluate integrated learning experiences
• Maintain and develop library systems, technologies, and displays
• Manage and supervise library staff, volunteers, and student assistants
• Coordinate events such as Book Week, Book Character Dress-Up Day, and Scholastic Book Fairs
• Supervision & tutoring of senior students as required during student study periods.

• The ability to manage library spaces and personnel effectively
• Experience with, or willingness to undertake, Teacher Librarian qualifications

Essential Criteria:

• Current NT Teacher Registration (TRB)
• Current Working with Children Check (Ochre Card)
• Proven experience with library systems and information management
• Ability to lead reading programs and support curriculum delivery strong ICT and digital resource management skills
