The MJ Smith Group is currently seeking a dedicated Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic for a permanent, full-time role based in Woodenbong, Northern NSW.

The position will be based at The MJ Smith Group Woodenbong Depot and will include the flexibility to complete maintenance/servicing at MJS work sites. This position is a 4-day working week (minimum 44hr week), with weekdays flexible and Saturday being a mandatory workday.

This position does not involve rebuilding motors etc - it is more completing all the general servicing, repairs, scheduled maintenance and breakdowns.

Woodenbong is located within two hours from Brisbane, Toowoomba and the NSW North Coast. Woodenbong is a quaint country town that boasts a comprehensive school offering education from Kindergarten through to Year 12, along with essential medical facilities and to cater to the community's needs.

You will need to be self-motivated, have attention to detail, be able to work independently, and work to the highest possible standards following WHS & company policies & procedures.

The MJ Smith Group pays attractive above award wages and super on all hours worked.

About the Job

  • Trade Qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic with Mobile Plant knowledge and experience
  • Full time permanent position on an attractive salary package, with super paid on all hours
  • Experience in performing scheduled maintenance, servicing, repairs, breakdowns and general fleet maintenance
  • The opportunity for a rental house in Woodenbong to be supplied as part of the job package
  • A vehicle will be supplied for the successful applicant

Skills and Experience

  • Attend breakdowns and diagnose maintenance issues
  • Experience in Caterpillar, Kenworth, Volvo & Cummins
  • Relevant licences & tickets in heavy vehicle maintenance
  • Completion of all relevant paperwork - job cards, maintenance checklists, work orders & service reports
  • Applicant must be able to keep workshop and maintenance areas clean and tidy
  • Complete general heavy vehicle and mobile plant maintenance and repairs
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and be motivated to achieve the best outcome in all situations
