Dugald River is one of the world's top 10 zinc operations, located near Cloncurry in Queensland. Dugald River was successfully commissioned ahead of schedule and under budget, with first production of zinc concentrate in October 2017. Dugald River is estimated to have a mine life of 20+ years processing an average of 1.7 million tonnes of ore per annum. The operation predominantly produces zinc concentrate, with by-products including lead and silver.

Operator Mining – Magazine Keeper

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for experienced and ambitious Operator Mining – Magazine Keeper to join our team at Dugald River Mine.

Reporting to the Mining Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe and secure storage, transportation and issuance of explosives to Charge Up crews.

This role will be based on an 8/7, 7/6 (days and nights) roster, drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Townsville.

Qualifications, Competencies & knowledge highly desired.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a safety focus, be a strong problem solver and have at least 12-months of underground mining experience.

• Must have or be able to obtain a current and valid Australian Driver's License and Competency of RIIBLA205E - Store, handle and transport explosives.
• Must have a current Explosives Security Clearance.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical.
• Working at Height Competency.

Some of your key responsibilities will include.

• Oversee explosive transfers in and out of surface and underground magazines.
• Manage inventory and logistics of explosives, ensuring optimal stock levels.
• Maintain accurate records of all stock movements.
• Conduct underground service tasks and operate ancillary equipment as needed.
• Track and maintain gas monitoring equipment.
• Ensure compliance with licensing and statutory regulations.
• Verify that all magazine entrants hold valid Shotfirer's Licences or are escorted.
• Perform regular stocktakes and address any discrepancies.
