About iHR Australia

At iHR Australia, we partner with organisations to deliver practical, people-focused solutions in workplace relations, human resources, investigations, training, and compliance. We pride ourselves on our integrity, professionalism, and commitment to delivering exceptional results for our clients.

We are seeking a Payroll and Compliance Advisor to join our Brisbane team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys problem-solving, and has a passion for ensuring payroll and employment compliance is done right.

About the Role

Reporting to the Workplace Advisory and Compliance Consultant, you will deliver accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services to a diverse portfolio of clients, while also supporting compliance reviews to ensure adherence to employment law and industrial relations frameworks.

Your role will combine the precision of payroll processing with the investigative and analytical elements of compliance work—ideal for someone who enjoys variety and a challenge.

What You'll Do

  • Manage end-to-end payroll for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and legislative compliance.
  • Interpret and apply Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and Contracts of Employment with confidence.
  • Handle payroll queries with professionalism and clarity.
  • Conduct payroll audits to identify discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
  • Work with our compliance team to review employment practices, identify underpayments, and calculate back pay.
  • Build and analyse back pay models for retrospective periods, ensuring accurate remediation.
  • Liaise with government agencies and external compliance experts when required.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven end-to-end payroll experience (multi-client or multi-business unit preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian industrial framework and modern award interpretation.
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office 365 skills.
  • 1-5 years of experience with payroll systems (Xero and Employment Hero highly regarded).
  • High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.
  • Qualifications in HR, Employment Relations, Law, or a related field (additional qualifications in finance, accounting, or mathematics desirable).

Why Join Us

  • Work with one of Australia's most trusted HR and workplace relations consultancies.
  • Enjoy variety—every client and case is different.
  • Hybrid working options with flexibility to balance your week.
  • Be part of a supportive, collaborative, and professional team environment.

If you have the technical payroll skills, compliance knowledge, and client-focused approach we're looking for, we'd love to hear from you.
