About the role

Swintons IGA in Warrnambool, VIC is seeking a motivated and customer-focused supermarket retail assistant to join our team on a casual basis. As a retail assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering an exceptional shopping experience for our valued customers. This position is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work hours and the opportunity to develop skills within the retail industry.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing friendly and efficient customer service at all times
  • Assisting customers with product selection, answering inquiries, and resolving any issues
  • Stocking and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of shelves and displays
  • Operating the cash register and handling cash and card payments
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to operate cash registers and handle financial transactions
  • Ensuring the store is well-presented and adheres to company policies and procedures
  • Collaborating with the team to deliver a seamless shopping experience

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in a customer service or retail role, preferably in a supermarket setting
  • Minimum of 1+ years of retail or customer service experience required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers and colleagues
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • A positive, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude towards providing excellent customer service
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Australian work rights required for this position
