Principal Structural Engineer

Role description:
Our Building Structures team has a growing pipeline of work, and we are looking to grow our team in VIC, NSW and, in particular, QLD. We're working on exciting building projects around transport hubs and are extending our reach into data centres, social infrastructure and defence projects. This has created an opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our national team and contribute to the growth and success of our business.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person who has demonstrated experience in leading building design projects. The ideal candidate will work across multi-discipline teams, provide technical guidance to team members and deliver quality solutions to our clients. Additionally, experience in client-facing roles, contributing to pursuits and demonstrating commercial acumen are highly desirable.

Role accountabilities:

• Delivery of structural design on significant building projects
• Proactively managing selected projects (or components of projects), taking responsibility for resource allocation, and ensuring the integrity of the overall design and collaborating with other design disciplines;
• Seeking new opportunities with clients through project work by building on and/or creating new working relationships;
• Providing direction to the project team and promoting awareness of technical and commercial risk, mitigation strategies, and best value design options
• Collaborating with other teams in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.

Qualifications & Experience:
First and foremost, you share our passion for improving quality of life. You are a seasoned structural engineering professional with strong industry ties and demonstrated credibility in a design consulting environment. You will come to us with:

• Demonstrated experience in leading structural design for buildings, including across commercial, residential, industrial and/or transport sectors. Experience in data centres, social infrastructure and defence is also highly desirable.
• Substantial experience using ETABS, RAPT and SPACEGASS (or similar) design software, additional demonstration of other program knowledge would be useful
• Demonstrated technical, commercial and delivery acumen, managing inter-disciplinary design interfaces and/or projects
• Ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegation skills;
• Proven experience in delivery of medium to large-scale projects to clients through all project phases
• Engineering degree with Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation; post-graduate qualifications are required.
• 10 – 20 years consulting industry experience
