Online English Tutor

Job Summary

Unie is seeking dedicated, passionate, and professional English Tutors (Years 2–11) to join our teaching team. This role focuses on preparing students for Selective School Tests, Scholarship Exams, OC/Selective Classes, NAPLAN, and ATAR assessments, while developing their writing, comprehension, verbal reasoning, critical thinking, and higher-order analytical skills.

Teaching Structure

Years 2–6

• Engaging lessons covering writing, reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, and general ability (GA).
• Assigning and marking writing homework online in a timely, constructive manner.
• Lessons supported by structured teaching guidelines, student work samples, and test papers (minimal preparation required).

Years 7–11

• First Hour: Intensive exam-focused essay writing and analytical writing practice, aligned with selective, scholarship, and ATAR exam requirements.
• Second Hour: Critical thinking and research-based learning, exploring topics such as current affairs, artificial intelligence, science & technology, medicine, literature, and law.
• Activities include case studies, reading analysis, and group discussions to build advanced reasoning and research skills.

All teaching content and resources are provided by Unie Education. Tutors are expected to prepare around the provided materials and deliver interactive, engaging lessons.

Required Skills & Experience

• Completed primary and secondary schooling in Australia (e.g., VCE, HSC, IB or equivalent), ensuring strong familiarity with the Australian education system.
• Strong understanding of Selective School entry tests, Scholarship Exams, OC/Selective Programs, NAPLAN, and ATAR assessments.
• Minimum of 1 year teaching or tutoring experience in English.
• Demonstrated classroom strategies, including lesson planning, student engagement, and behaviour management.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with parents, students, and colleagues.
• Passion for teaching and helping students achieve measurable success.
• A responsible, reliable, and professional team player.
• Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Desirable Qualifications

• Qualified teacher OR currently completing a recognised teaching qualification in primary/secondary education.
• Certificate III/IV in Education Support OR a Bachelor's/Master's degree in English or related field.

Job Types & Remuneration

• Contract and Casual positions available
• Hourly rate: AU$33 – AU$40, depending on year level, qualifications, and experience

• Weekday classes (Monday – Friday)
• Weekend availability required (flexible scheduling provided)
