Your new company

Hays have partnered with a dynamic Queensland government department to recruit a skilled Security Administrator. This department is committed to delivering secure, high-performance IT infrastructure across the state.

Your new role

As a Security Administrator, you'll engineer, build, and support a range of IT security infrastructure including firewalls, secure gateways, cloud hosting environments, and network components. Your responsibilities will span performance monitoring, documentation, vendor liaison, user support, and cross-team collaboration. You'll also participate in on-call rosters.

What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in security administration across large enterprise networks:
  • AWS and Azure cloud security
  • Palo Alto Firewalls
  • F5 ADCs (LTM, ASM, APM)
  • Secure Email Gateways and SSE technologies
  • Strong understanding of network security, encryption, ITIL, and compliance
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement capabilities

What you'll get in return

You'll be engaged on a 12-month contract from 14 November 2025 to 12 November 2026, with the possibility of extension depending on operational needs. The role offers flexible work arrangements and core hours between 7:30am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday. You'll participate in an on-call roster with structured support and fair compensation terms.
