Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

The Role:
The Divisional Director Engineering, Capital & Development and Security is a pivotal member within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), working in close partnership with the CFO and four other members of the leadership group. This strategic leadership role has the unique opportunity to shape the future of our infrastructure and operational services, contributing to the long-term success of Northern Health of providing exceptional healthcare to the northern community. You will lead a high-performing team comprising three Directors and 43 staff across the Engineering, Capital & Development, and Security portfolios. You will be responsible for setting strategic direction, fostering collaboration, and driving operational excellence across all functions. Your leadership will be instrumental in building a culture of innovation, safety, and accountability, while ensuring the team delivers high-quality outcomes aligned with organisational priorities.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrable experience and success in a senior leadership role in infrastructure, engineering, or operations management in a large and complex organisation, preferably within health, government, or public sector.
- Strong financial management and commercial acumen, including oversight of multimillion-dollar budgets and capital programs.
- Demonstrated experience in asset management, capital works delivery, facilities management and security governance.
- Provide strategic advice, performance updates, and risk assessments to members of the Executive, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Forward thinking and visionary with the successful experience of leading people to challenge current practices and build momentum for change and an innovative future.
- Experience in using your engineering expertise to support and assure the quality of maintenance services and capital development initiatives.
- High levels of self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal sensitivity to lead with authenticity and compassion.
- Demonstrated general management capability and sound business acumen to consistently achieve performance outcomes across safety, workforce, timelines, and budgetary targets.
- Advanced problem-solving capability, underpinned by strategic insight and creative, lateral thinking to effectively address stakeholder needs and expectations
- Makes sound, ethical decisions under pressure and upholds the highest standards of professionalism.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (postgraduate credentials highly regarded)
