About Us

Metromotion is a Melbourne based engineering consultancy specialising in process design and capital project delivery for the food and beverage sector. We work with leading FMCG manufacturers across Australia, providing practical engineering solutions from concept through to commissioning.

With several major projects underway, we are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our team on-site with a key client at their Adelaide cheese manufacturing facility.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will see you lead and deliver capital projects within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You'll have end-to-end involvement – from feasibility and design through installation, commissioning, and final handover – ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver capital projects on-site in Adelaide
  • Manage installation, commissioning, and project handover
  • Oversee contractor management and site activities with a strong focus on safety
  • Drive process improvements and operational efficiency across manufacturing lines
  • Ensure compliance with documentation, QA systems, and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams including maintenance, QA, and production
  • Provide technical support and clear communication to stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for an engineer who can bring both technical capability and practical experience to site:

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Process, or related Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years' experience delivering capital projects within food manufacturing
  • Candidates with 4-5 years of capital projects experience in food manufacturing will be considered
  • Dairy or cheese industry experience highly regarded
  • Strong understanding of food processing and plant utilities
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to manage contractors, timelines, and budgets on-site
  • Australian work rights are required at the time of application
