With a menu spanning pizzas, pastas, schnitzels, seafood, and all-day breakfast options, the café blends affordability with variety, making it a reliable spot for both dine-in and takeaway.

Caffe Primo Dernancourt is seeking a passionate and experienced Full-Time Head Chef to join our busy team.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook high-quality meals in accordance with Caffe Primo's menu and standards.
  • Ensure all dishes are presented professionally and maintain consistency in quality and taste.
  • Oversee food preparation and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Follow food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Assist in menu planning, ingredient selection, and inventory management.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple orders effectively.
  • Regularly check the freshness of food and ingredients to maintain high standards.
  • Train and supervise junior staff to ensure efficient operations and high-quality food preparation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or café.
  • A passion for food and cooking and the courage to be creative.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • A passion for food and creativity in presenting dishes.
  • Strong team player with good communication skills.
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Relevant culinary qualifications will be an advantage.
  • Hold a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Certificate IV in commercial Cookery/Diploma of Hospitality management.
  • Must have minimum 3 years of relevant post qualification work experience.
  • High Level of communication skills both with front of house and within your team when the pressure is on.
  • Experience in maintaining food safety records
