Help us safeguard community safety every day

As the third fastest growing local government in WA, our community is changing.  Sure, there is an increase in number of people who are lucky enough to live, work or play here.  But beyond the numbers, we recognise that how we do things needs to keep pace with community expectations.

We have worked with our community to develop aspirational targets and need your help to make this come true.

About the Role

No two days look the same, but you'll spend plenty of time out in the community, leading by example. You'll:

•    Supervise and coordinate daily Ranger operations — from patrols and investigations to community education.

•    Be the go-to person for complex issues, providing in-field leadership, coaching and mentoring.

•    Support enforcement activities including animal control, fire safety, parking, and compliance with local laws.

•    Lead fire prevention inspections and community education to strengthen bushfire readiness.

•    Represent the City in enforcement proceedings when required.

Your work means people feel safer, problems are resolved fairly, and our Ranger team has the confidence and skills to do their best work.

About You

You're someone who brings a steady head, sound judgment, and a people-first approach to your work. You'll succeed here if you're the kind of person who:

•    Has extensive experience as a Ranger including how to interpret and apply legislation with fairness and confidence

•    Can stay calm and professional under pressure.

•    Enjoys mentoring others and building team capability.

•    Has strong customer service skills and can diffuse volatile situations with respect.

•    Is physically fit and ready for hands-on, outdoor work across both city and bush settings.

You'll also have:

•    Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services), or progress towards it.

•    Regulatory Officer Compliance Skills (ROC's 1 & 2)

•    Experience in law enforcement or compliance (ideally in Local Government).

•    Fire Control Officer qualifications (or the ability to obtain them).

•    Strong animal handling ability.

•    Senior First Aid Certificate, C Class Driver's Licence, and a National Police Certificate.

What it is Like Working Here

We are a values led organisation guided by our belief that we:

•    Care

•    Are Better, Together

•    Learn & Grow

•    Seize Today, Shape Tomorrow

Joining our team means embracing a culture where we look after ourselves, and each other. We actively listen and give and receive constructive feedback. We build and strengthen resilience, in ourselves, in our organisation, and in the community. We are mindful of our impacts and encouraged to make responsible and sustainable decisions.

Perks and Benefits

•    We are set up to improve your Wellbeing - Free membership to Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre, offering access to gym, pool, sauna, group classes as well as a annual calendar of Wellbeing events.

•    If you put in extra super, we will match it (up to a maximum of 15%) which will help secure  your financial future

•    Study Assistance where the City of Armadale supports its tenured employees to undertake a course of part-time study that will help with their own professional development
