Our client is a hypergrowth technology company headquartered in Sydney, developing world-first systems in RF sensing, AI/ML, and electronic warfare. Backed by major defence contracts and global demand, they're building advanced sensor platforms that are redefining threat detection across military, critical infrastructure, and security domains.

They're seeking an
Embedded Software Engineer
to help design, develop, and maintain the company's Linux-based deployed sensor technologies. You'll work alongside RF, ML, and infrastructure teams to deliver performance-critical, resource-efficient systems used worldwide.

About The Role

You'll play a key role in building embedded software for distributed sensor platforms. This is a hands-on engineering position ideal for someone who thrives in a high-performance environment and enjoys seeing their code run on real-world systems.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Build and maintain software features from prototype to production
  • Develop Linux-based systems optimised for constrained hardware
  • Design robust APIs and manage device communication via gRPC, REST, and TCP/UDP
  • Work with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and internal tools for testing and deployment
  • Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams (ML, RF, infrastructure)
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural decisions
  • Document processes and contribute to continuous improvement in engineering practices

You Might Thrive In This Role If You:

  • Have 3+ years' experience in embedded Linux development
  • Are fluent in Python, Golang, or Modern C++ (ideally two of these)
  • Understand resource constraints and system reliability design
  • Know how to build scalable, maintainable software for real-world hardware
  • Are comfortable in a command-line Linux environment
  • Have experience with version control (Git), and modern CI/CD workflows
  • Enjoy working in fast-paced, collaborative environments solving real-world problems

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with microservice architecture or API versioning
  • Background in electronic product development or hardware integration
  • Knowledge of RF systems, sensor fusion, or signal processing
  • Exposure to hardware-in-the-loop CI/CD
