We are seeking an Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer to act as a vital advocate and trusted link for Aboriginal patients and their families - helping them navigate the hospital system with respect and understanding.
About The Opportunity
The Liaison Officer role will be based across both Gosford and Wyong Hospitals, with occasional visits to Woy Woy Hospital. Working Thursday to Tuesday, 11:00am – 7:00pm shifts gives you time to connect with community while enjoying life on the beautiful Central Coast.
In the role you will –
- Provide flexible, holistic, and culturally sensitive healthcare to Aboriginal patients.
- Act as a vital advocate and conduit for Aboriginal patients and families.
- Work alongside a multidisciplinary team to promote better health outcomes through education, engagement, and empowerment.
- Participate in health promotion programs and provide basic health screening, advice, and referrals.
- Support Aboriginal patients in understanding their care, treatment, and choices - ensuring they feel heard, respected, and informed.

About You
- You identify as Aboriginal, are of Aboriginal descent, and are accepted by your community, meeting Section 14 exemption criteria.
- You hold or are willing to pursue a Certificate III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a relevant health qualification.
- You have strong computer skills, can manage patient records, produce reports, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- You understand key Aboriginal health issues and policies affecting the Central Coast community.
- You are resilient, professional, and a clear communicator who works well in teams, supporting patients and families with empathy and cultural respect.
