We seek an accomplished, experienced and hands on
Principal Pavements Engineer
to join our Safer Smarter Infrastructure group. In this key specialist position you must be capable and enthusiastic about delivering practical applied research, consulting and training solutions to challenges faced by ANZ road agencies in addition to other national and international partners.

This position is required to locally deliver Western Australia Road Research & Innovation Program (WARRIP) projects. As a highly developed pavement materials/design engineer, you will be able to utilise your in-depth knowledge of transport infrastructure environments that will lead to better, value-for-money outcomes. The outcome-focused research is targeted at delivering innovation, facilitating private sector participation and embracing more efficient road management practice through the implementation of fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.

This is a full-time position based in our Perth office.

Main duties of the role

• Initiate ideas, develop proposals, identify and secure work opportunities and undertake research projects for national, state and local road agencies
• Collaborate closely with diverse teams—including Sustainability and Asset Management—to ensure a comprehensive, holistic approach to pavement design, construction, and management
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of pavement technology and asset management services to clients in WA and throughout ANZ
• Deliver a wide range of research projects while applying advisory services when required in the pavements/ asset management technical areas
• Develop solutions to identify cost savings for clients - in both the short and long term

About you

• Relevant tertiary qualifications (a higher research degree is desirable)
• 15+ years of experience in pavement engineering research within the transport industry, including consultancy or local government and transport agencies
• Innovative engineering ideas - more than just perpetuating current practices
• A strong client focus with well-developed negotiation skills
• Project management skills appropriate for research, consulting and service-based projects
• Excellent report writing, together with advanced verbal communication and polished presentation skills
• Well-developed problem-solving capabilities to deal with complex issues.
